How Pregnancy Water Needs Are Calculated

This calculator uses a weight-based formula to estimate daily water needs:

  • Base: body weight (kg) × 30 ml — standard hydration guideline
  • Pregnancy addition: +300 ml to support increased blood volume and fluid distribution
  • Second/third trimester: +200 ml additional for amniotic fluid maintenance

The result is displayed in both millilitres (ml) and fluid ounces (oz), and converted to the number of standard 250 ml glasses for easy tracking.

These are targets for total fluid — water, herbal tea, milk, and fluid from food all count. Plain water is the most efficient source.
