IVF Transfer Due Date Calculator

Calculate your estimated due date, LMP equivalent, and current gestational age from your embryo transfer date.

How IVF Due Dates Are Calculated

Unlike natural pregnancies where gestational age is estimated from the last menstrual period (LMP), IVF pregnancies have a known fertilization date — the day eggs were retrieved and fertilized in the laboratory.

The formula used is: EDD = Transfer Date + (266 − Embryo Age in Days). A full-term pregnancy is 266 days from fertilization (or 280 days from LMP in a natural 28-day cycle). Since the embryo is already a known number of days old at transfer, that number is subtracted from 266 to get the remaining days.

Embryo Age at Transfer

  • Day 3 (Cleavage stage): 266 − 3 = 263 days added to transfer date
  • Day 5 (Blastocyst): 266 − 5 = 261 days added to transfer date
  • Day 6 (Expanded blastocyst): 266 − 6 = 260 days added to transfer date
