About the CDC 2022 Milestone Checklist

In February 2022, the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released updated developmental milestones — the first major revision since 2004. Key changes include:

  • Milestones now reflect what 75% of children can do at each age (previously 50%) — making them more reliably detectable in clinical settings
  • Added 15-month and 30-month checkpoints not in the 2004 list
  • Clearer, more observable language for each milestone

This calculator shows milestones in three groups: Expected (skills your child should have by now), Emerging (skills typical for this age), and Upcoming (what to watch for next).
